Spotify revolutionized the music streaming market. The company’s innovative features and cross-platform availability made it the top choice among the users. It’s no surprise why Spotify is leading a rapidly growing music streaming market with a comfortable margin. Unlike its rivals, who mostly offer a web version on the desktop, Spotify delivers a native experience with Windows and Mac apps. Whether you opt for the Free plan or have upgraded to Spotify Premium, you can use the official app like a pro with the Spotify keyboard shortcuts.

I was listening to music on spotify and when i clicked the pause/play button on my keyboard it started playing a youtube video that was loaded in a tab instead of pausing the spotify song currently playing. This used to not be a problem but suddenly is. You can do that by making your way to the Preferences window (which you'll find under the 'Spotify' menu on Mac; 'Edit' menu on PC). Click 'Show Advanced Settings' and scroll down to the 'Playback'.
You can always use the keyboard media controls to play/pause or forward/backward songs, but when you are in the Spotify app, you can opt for Spotify keyboard shortcuts to improve the listening experience.
Besides, I have always found the Spotify media controls and other buttons such as shuffle, repeat, search, mute/unmute tiny in size to my liking. Using keyboard shortcuts solves the issue and allows you to access those functions on the fly. In this post, we will talk about eleven best Spotify keyboard shortcuts on Windows and Mac. Let’s get started.

2. Play/Pause Music
This is fairly standard and works across most music/video streaming services. Are you listening to music and received a call? Instead of finding that pause button in the Spotify app, you can quickly use the spacebar to pause the music. That said, the Spotify app must be active on the screen. It won't work if you've minimized it or playing it from the Taskbar.
3. Switch to Next/Previous Track
Not a fan of current playing music? You can change tracks using the media controls on the keyboard or opt for the tiny forward/backward buttons in the Spotify app. We have a better solution than that. Use Ctrl + Left/Right arrow on Windows or Command + Left/Right arrow on Mac to forward or backward the song.

11. Access Spotify Preferences
Spotify offers a ton of settings options to modify your music listening experience. You can access these settings from the Spotify Preference menu. Use Ctrl + P on Windows or Command +, on Mac to open the Spotify Preference menu.
The keyboard shortcuts mentioned above only work when Spotify is your current focus app. If you keep the app in the background or have something else in focus, you can't use the convenient shortcuts to play/pause, skip a track, or access other functions.
Also, don't forget about the media keys on your keyboard. All Mac keyboards and many Windows keyboards have keys that allow you to adjust the volume, play/pause, and change tracks. They're the quickest way to make a quick change without jumping back to Spotify.
Master Spotify Keyboard Shortcuts
I don’t use trackpad or mouse while navigating Spotify on my Mac. I mostly opt for the keyboard shortcut to navigate the app smoothly. You can switch to that routine too. Memorize the keyboard shortcuts mentioned above and implement them in your daily workflow.

Free spotify premium att. Usually, when you play a video on YouTube, the on-screen buttons disappear immediately or with just one tap. Recently, I noticed that the buttons such as pause and video progress didn’t go away automatically even after tapping.
Also, there was a new X mark icon at the bottom-right corner. I had to press that button every time to hide the controls. It made watching videos on YouTube a bit annoying.
If you are also facing this issue, I will help you get rid of it. You won’t have to press the X mark to hide the screen controls.
Let’s get started.
Turn off Switch Access and Accessibility Menu
I recently read that Android 9.0 Pie has a cool Accessibility menu. So, I enabled the setting on my Google Pixel 2 XL and discovered a new button in the bottom panel that offers quick access to notifications, Google Assistant, recent apps, and more. Little did I know that it also enabled the YouTube controls. I had to turn it off to make YouTube work normally.
Here are the steps to turn it off.
Step 1: Open device settings and tap on Accessibility. If you can’t find it, look under System settings or Additional settings. You can also use the search feature to find the Accessibility settings.
Step 2: Once inside the Accessibility settings, tap on Switch Access. Then turn it off on the next screen.
Step 3: If you are running Android 9.0 Pie, tap on Accessibility Menu and turn it off as well.
Step 4: Restart your device and open YouTube.
Clear Cache
You should also try clearing the cache for the YouTube app. Here’s how to do it.
Step 1: Open device settings and go to Apps/Application Manager/Apps & notifications.
Step 2: Here under All apps, tap on YouTube.
Step 3: Tap on Storage followed by Clear Cache.
Clearing cache will not log you out from the device or delete any downloaded video. It just wipes temporary files and is different from clearing data.

Switch to a Different App
If you see the navigation bar in the YouTube app, switch to a different app using the recent apps key. Once you are in the new app, switch back to the YouTube app. The bottom bar won’t be there.

Sometimes the picture-in-picture mode (PiP) could be responsible for the issue due to a bug in the app. Disabling this mode proves helpful. Here’s how to do it.
Step 1: Launch device settings and go to Apps/Application Manager.
Step 2: Tap on YouTube under All apps.
Step 3: Scroll down and tap on Picture-in-picture. Turn it off.
It's not the best solution if you like the PiP mode, but it might be one of the options to fix the issue.

However, it’s easy to lose track of time on YouTube. For that, interestingly, you can set a time limit to watch over your viewing time.
